Abstract

Street magic has similarity with close-up magic, but what’s make it different are the way how the magician perform it and where it happened. Street magicians can almost perform their tricks in anywhere and anytime, even with preparation before it. But usually street magicians perform their tricks in some public spaces, with number of crowd that cannot be calculated. This makes the trick that the magician performed is leaked to people around there, this happened because there’s no safe space or some personalspaces that magician can keep while they’re performing some tricks. The research method are doing some survey (direct & indirect) by doing some interviews to street magicians and observe some street magic videos and then doing review with personal spacestheory. The result shows that the layout of the space can optimize how street magician works. The conclusion is the designed space already appropriate.

Through this paper, it will be shown that the design elements are used to express the premium label that attached to a car. This paper explains about the characteristic of design elements of premium cars and their potential as concept resources for interior design. As the definition of premium car as the upper-range products, this study using cars under brand Toyota that sold in Indonesia. As thereare types of car in several categories, the study can identify the differences of design elements among each type of car in each category. This comparison will identify design elements that differentiate the upper-range car with another in one category. The result of this study shows there are differences in design elements quantity and quality of exploration of design elements attached to premium cars.

Abstract

Science ininteriordesignhas been widely used by the community to add value and provide solutions to problems in interior space. One of them is the number of designers applying the concept of open planto provide space design solutions to feel spacious, feel bright, and make it possible to carry out activities simultaneously. However, there are several activities that cannot be carried out simultaneously such as privacy spaces, namely bathrooms, meeting rooms etc. With these needs, the privacy area is usually placed outside the open plan area so that the use of open plan in the interior does not experience development in the processing of interior space. Even though there are four fundamental ways of connecting several spaces, one of them is space within a space. By adapting, developing, combining and using relationships between spaces within a space, the concept of open plan can create attractive spaces and can fulfill building functions. In this study the method used is descriptive analysis, that is, by describing and analyzing the concept of space within a space that has been applied by famous building architects and designers into interior layouts. The benefit of this research is to provide an alternative to processing interior space in the open plan concept in order to create a variety of designs. The purpose of this study is to provide a new perspective in processing concepts from an open plan by applying space within a space to separate space functions so that designers can provide privacy space in public areas, (or vice versa) without changing the essence of the open plan concept

Abstract

Mid century is one of furniture style which is quite difficult to be made knock-down for its slim structure. With market high demand of this particular style, furniture company needs to always release new designs with added value. One of added values is knock-down system. Knock-down is generally applied in furniture for space saving. A Case study is taken at New Elegant, Ltd., Vietnam, a furniture company focuses more on dining sets. Mid century dining chair design which can be produced at this company should have 3 basic constructions similar to factory standards (seat frame, front legs, chair back). While dining table design should have table top and table legs assembled with hardware (with or without apron). Forms of design is relative, adjusting to mid century design characteristics, rounded and slim. Quotation price should be in retail price rangeof USD90-99 per piece, and according to cost estimation, designs proposed are within this range. In terms of loadibility, knock-down designs in this research are 48% more efficient in space compared to those with non knock-down structure. Thus, this design model could be a reference on how to modify knock-down mid century designs
